Dhaka: At least 37 people have been killed in a fire at a privately owned container depot in Bangladesh. More than 450 were injured.
A huge fire broke out last night (June 4) at a BM container depot in Kadamrasool area of Sitakunda Upasila in Chittagong, Bangladesh. Thirty-seven people were killed in the incident. More than 450 were seriously injured. It is feared the death toll could rise as many are in critical condition. Five firefighters were killed in the blaze.
During the initial investigation, it is suspected that the fire was caused by a chemical. The fire started at 9 pm last night and started burning at 11:45 am. The fire started spreading from one container to another as there was a chemical in one of the containers. As a result of the fire, it was revealed that the window panes of nearby houses were also damaged.
