Manila: Residents of the Philippines are panicked by the rising dust from the Bulusan volcano. The dust layer, which spread to a height of one kilometer, lasted for 17 minutes. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said in a press release that the volcano was unlikely to erupt. Bulusan volcano is located in the sorsogan province in the southeastern part of the Philippines.

Authorities banned people from entering the four-kilometer radius of the mountain due to the high dust level. Locals have been advised to wear masks and stay indoors. The dust storm spread to seven villages near the town of Juban.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology stated that the volcano is not currently in a safe state and is currently level five. Authorities said there were 77 volcanic eruptions 24 hours before the eruption.

Residents of valleys and river banks have been warned to be cautious as there is a possibility of mudslides from the mountain during monsoons. Flights are also prohibited from entering the Sorsogan area, about 600 km from Manila. There are about 12 active volcanoes in the Philippines.
