Kallambalam: A Plus One student who lost her concentration in her studies as a regular viewer of BTS Army Korean band videos on her mobile phone has committed suicide. Jeeva Mohan (Gauri 16), the eldest daughter of the late Jayamohan and Sreeja, was found hanging in the Vettiyara Chiravilaputhan house in Navaikkulam. Kallambalam police have found a six-page suicide note stating that he was addicted to a mobile phone and could not concentrate on his studies.
The incident took place on Saturday afternoon. Jeeva’s mother Sreeja, an employee of the Attingal Sub – Registrar’s office, and her sister Jita Tuition, a fifth – grade student, went into the living room and knocked on the door, saying they had to study. Only grandparents were at home. Jita knocked on Jeeva’s door after tuition but there was no answer.
A Plus One student at NSS Higher Secondary School, Madavoor, she excelled in life studies but fell behind due to her mobile disorder.
Jeeva, who bought A + in all subjects in Class X, was given a mobile phone by her mother for online study. Video of Chinese and Korean brands was regularly viewed on mobile. With the recent drop in marks in the Class Tests, Jeeva was worried that she would not be able to get a good result in the general examination which will be held from the 13th. The suicide note also says that the younger sister should not be given a mobile phone.
Jeeva’s father, a government employee, committed suicide five years ago. After his death, Sreeja got a government job. The body was post-mortemed at the Medical College and after Kovid was positive he was buried in the backyard as per Kovid protocol.
