Guruvayur: The Mahindra Thar Devaswom Board of Trustees has re-auctioned a car at the Guruvayur Temple for Rs 43 lakh, which was bought by Angadipuram resident Vignesh Vijayakumar. Devaswom auctioned a vehicle donated by Mahindra to the temple.

The Thar, which was donated by the Mahindra Company to the temple on December 4, 2021, was auctioned off on December 18. Amal Mohammad Ali, an expatriate businessman from Bahrain and a native of Ernakulam Edappally, was the first to bid on the vehicle. Subhash Panicker was the only person to bid for him at that time. The bid was Rs 15.10 lakh.

However, the Hindu Seva Sangham filed a complaint in the high court challenging the auction of the car without giving enough publicity and the fact that the auction was confirmed even though only one person participated in the auction. Subsequently, as per the directions of the High Court, on April 9, the Devaswom Commissioner Dr. Biju Prabhakar sat in Guruvayur and heard the complaints. Eight people lodged complaints that day. Administrator KP Vinayan Devaswom explained the part. It was after this that the Devaswom Commissioner ordered Thar to be auctioned again.

The Devaswom Board of Directors had decided to implement the Devaswom Commissioner’s order to re-auction the Thar Jeep. Mahindra has launched the Red Color Diesel Option Limited Edition at the temple.
