The presidential majority well launched, Valls eliminated. The first round of legislative elections was held this weekend in French Polynesia and in the constituencies of French nationals living abroad, and the presidential majority came out on top in eight constituencies, against two for Nupes (it came in second position almost everywhere) and one for the UDI.
Former Prime Minister Manuel Valls was eliminated in the first round in the 5th constituency of French people living abroad, which includes Spain, Portugal, Monaco and Andorra. He came third, and called for a block in the second round to the Nupes candidate, Renaud Le Berre, who came first, before saying “goodbye” to Twitter and deactivating his account. Candidate without label, the outgoing deputy of the 6th constituency of French people abroad, Joachim Son-Forget – ex-LREM who became a supporter of Zemmour – was also dismissed in the first round.

- Boris Johnson submitted to a motion of no confidence from his party. - Isabelle Balkany is out of the hospital. Hospitalized since her suicide attempt in February, the former assistant to Levallois-Perret, who suffers from lung cancer, returned to her home in Giverny (Eure) on Saturday where she is in “convalescence”, according to a source close to the case. “She is currently receiving post-operative care at her home, following the discovery of tumors (…) cancerous of the right lung”, explained her lawyer to BFMTV on Monday. The Rouen Court of Appeal (Seine-Maritime) had revoked on February 3 the placement under electronic bracelet of the Balkany spouses, paving the way for their incarceration.
- Zelensky visiting the Donbass. The Ukrainian president was Sunday on the front line in the Donbass whose cities are targeted by the Russian military. “We were in Lysytchansk, we were in Soleda,” the leader explained in a video. He went to command posts in these localities near Severodonetsk, a key city in the offensive led by Moscow in the Donbass mining basin.
- The remains of Frédéric Leclerc-Imhoff repatriated to France on Wednesday. The BFMTV journalist was killed last Monday in eastern Ukraine by shrapnel during a bombing. His repatriation was announced by BFMTV, which paid tribute to him on Sunday during a special broadcast. A tribute will also be paid to him on Friday evening at Place de la République in Paris, at the call of Reporters Without Borders (RSF) in particular. His family, friends and colleagues will be present.

Bring a computer or a smartphone, because the deadline for paper filers – May 31 – has already passed. Exceeding the deadline may earn you increases: 10% of income tax if the delay is less than thirty days, 20% if a formal notice has been decided, and an increase of 40% and the loss of your right to tax exemption measures after thirty days. Be careful, even non-taxable French people must complete a declaration, under penalty of a fine of 150 euros.
