Introducing the new helpline service for seniors at the Tech Key Community Forum

by time news

A senior telephone helpline for seniors has been introduced.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong introduced the pioneering telephone service at the Teck Ghee Community Forum.

Initially, it will serve Ang Mo Kio residents.

Senior volunteers who speak on the phone will speak in a way that comforts seniors living alone.

They will also make arrangements for the elders to receive the necessary services.

That, in turn, will increase the demand for the service, said Prime Minister Lee.

He said various such efforts were taking place across the island.

Mr. Lee pointed out.

Seniors can get help, including food delivery service and cell phone use, at the helpline.

Tech Key currently has 30 senior volunteers.

They talk on the helpline during office hours on weekdays.

Significant number of volunteers speak at least 2 languages and 3 branch languages.

There are plans to expand that service nationwide in 3 more years.

About 100 senior volunteers from different constituencies will serve.
