Real Madrid basketball coach Pablo Laso has left the intensive care unit where he was admitted after suffering a myocardial infarction on Sunday and his state of health is evolving “favorably“, announced Monday the Madrid club.

Aged 54, Laso has coached Real since 2011. Crowned Spanish champion five times and winner of six King’s Cups with Real, he also won the Euroleague twice (2015 and 2018) and was beaten in the final of the 2022 edition three weeks ago by Efes Istanbul.
Laso, who brought his team to a success on Saturday evening over Vitoria (83-71) in the second match of the semi-final of the Spanish championship, suffered a heart attack early Sunday morning and was hospitalized in an emergency. For the third match of the semi-final on Tuesday, he will be replaced by his assistant, Chus Mateo.
