Kannur City Police Commissioner R Elango recommended to DIG Rahul R Nair that a cap be imposed on Arjun Ayanki. According to the police report, Arjun Ayanki is a regular accused in gold smuggling cases.

Earlier, Arjun Ayanki had clashed with DYFI leaders. Arjun had lodged a complaint with the DYFI police against Ayanki alleging defamation on social media.

The DYFI had alleged that the gold smuggling quotation groups, including Ayanki and Aakash Thillankari, used the photo taken with P Jayarajan to gain acceptance on social media. DYFI leader Manu Thomas had said that the party had not told them to kill anyone and that there was no threat. But Arjun Ayanki had come on the scene through a Facebook post saying that he would be forced to say many things if he was hurt unnecessarily.
