Ready to help Sri Lanka
China says it is ready to help Sri Lanka recover from the economic crisis and recover from its debt burden.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said.
President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa recently told the international media on Tuesday that China had not provided assistance despite Sri Lanka’s request for a $ 1 billion loan.
Reporters questioned Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijiang about the comment. Responding, Zhao Lijian said China was observing its traditional friendship and the crisis facing neighboring Sri Lanka.

He pointed out that China has been providing as much assistance as possible to Sri Lanka’s economic and social development and that Sri Lanka has declared its inability to repay its foreign debts and has been in talks with Sri Lanka to properly deal with China-related bonds.
China will play a role in helping Sri Lanka recover from the current crisis, reduce debt and achieve sustainable development.
A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said Sri Lanka would take legitimate steps to protect the interests of foreign investors and financial partners.
