Authentic cuisine and lots of wine

by time news

AThe matter was dug up by a colleague from the publishing house. He’s a wine freak, what the English call an “educated drinker”. So someone who not only likes to drink wine and is interested in wine. But someone who lives for wine, is passionate about the subject, is always on the lookout for new winegrowers and wineries, for discoveries and suggestions. Someone who reads a lot, drinks a lot and knows his way around accordingly. This colleague is one of those. And he suddenly calls a few weeks ago and reports about this restaurant in Frankfurt’s north end. “Great Thai, great wines,” he says. And: “What, you don’t know him?” That sounded almost a bit reproachful. Well, and now we’re sitting together on the colorful plastic stools imported directly from Bangkok at metal tables that are just as authentic – and there is nothing to add to the judgment of the colleague.

Well, there is still a little to say. For example about the fried chicken skin. It is a popular snack in Thailand, is on the menu at “BKK Thai Street Food” as Nang Gai Tord and – the term is actually on our index, but this time it just has to be – incredibly delicious. Once the bowl of crispy bits is on the table, you can’t stop dipping and devouring them in spicy Sriracha chilli sauce or in the homemade sweet and sour sauce.
