Kochi: The High Court has rejected the anticipatory bail pleas of Swapna Suresh and Sarith, accused in a gold smuggling case, in a conspiracy case against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The government accepted the contention that bail was a provision imposed. The court also accepted the contention that Sarith was not the accused.

Thiruvananthapuram Cantonment Police yesterday registered a case against PC George and Swapna Suresh on the complaint of KT Jalil MLA.

He has been charged under sections 120B and 153 of the Indian Penal Code for criminal conspiracy and incitement to riot. Swapna is the first accused in the case and PC George is the second accused. The police action is based on the legal advice of the Deputy Director of Prosecution.

Swapna had said that he had threatened to withdraw the complaint against the Chief Minister. According to Swapna, Shaji Kiran had threatened to withdraw the complaint within 10 hours today. Jalil had said in the complaint that the dream was based on false allegations based on the conspiracy.
