The Minister for Regional Cooperation, Issawi Farage (Meretz), said today (Thursday) that the prominent left-wing parties in Israel – Meretz and Labor, have ended their historic role. Tonight, Farage explained his remarks on the program of Roni Bar-On and Prof. Aryeh Eldad on 103FM and claimed that “I said this without any connection to recent developments. The Labor Party is not a governmental alternative, it has ended its path and so has Meretz.”
According to the minister, a new party should be formed: “A broad left-wing party, not in the form of a unification of parties but primaries open to anyone who wants. Developments in recent years have not been to the left. Have we failed, or have the developments failed? His own vision. We have shrunk, I am very sorry we have reached this point.
