FaceTime is a great solution for chatting and video conferencing, and now that Android users have a chance to join, more people are starting to join it. But even though it is a very solid platform overall with very little downtime, there is still the potential for it to crash and fail at times. If FaceTime is not working, what should you do? Switch to Skype? barely. Here are some tips to get FaceTime back on again.

If FaceTime is not working for you, you can try several possibilities. The simplest of these involves checking your internet connection and restarting the FaceTime app. Other time-consuming programs include checking for and installing updates and talking to Apple Support.

The most important things first. What does this wi-fi connection look like? Do you have a reference? weak at least?
Once you dismiss the wi-fi connection, it’s time to close and reopen FaceTime. Sometimes all the tubes get clogged and the only way to loosen them is to shut everything off, then release it again. So this is the second option.
Enable and disable FaceTime in Settings
Is FaceTime Still Not Working? Well, there are other options. The next thing is to disable FaceTime in the settings and then enable it again.
On a Mac, go to FaceTime–> Turn FaceTime off. Once it’s turned off, you can sign in again with your Apple ID.
On iOS, go to Settings-> FaceTime Turn off the FaceTime option. Now toggle it back on. You may be asked to sign in.
Check for updates
The next possibility is to see if there are any pending updates. FaceTime updates come with regular macOS updates. On a Mac, go to System Preferences->Software Update and see if anything is available. If so, download and install it. On iOS, go to Settings->General->Software Update.
Obviously, this will also restart your device, which might also do the trick. Sometimes, all that a stopped app needs is a restart of the operating system to blast those spider webs.
Check to see if FaceTime is disabled
At this point, it is likely that the fault is not with you. Most likely something Apple did. You can easily check this by going to their system status page and see if FaceTime is not working or not with anyone else.
Instead, check places like Twitter and Reddit to see if anyone is complaining about FaceTime crashing. These two sites are usually a good gauge of whether or not any people are upset about something. Plug something like “Facetime down” into the site’s search engine and see if anything pops up.
Contact Apple Support
As a last resort, you can consider contacting Apple Support. Maybe they have some advice to offer? Maybe the latest update made a number on your device and you need to undo it? Apple Support will be able to tell you if FaceTime isn’t working at that moment.
