What Ikea will discover at the Milan Fuorisalone

by time news

Time.news – On the occasion of Fuorisalone 2022, IKEA is inside the spaces of BASE Milano with its IKEA Festival, a rich schedule of events and engaging experiences to tell the future of design, investigate how the relationship of people with your home and show how it is can improve daily life of the majority of people.

Throughout the week, IKEA explores life at home and its various future variations through three experiential moments.

First, you can visit Ögonblick – A Life at Home Exhibition, a compelling physical and digital installation. As the name of the exhibition says – Ögonblick which in Swedish means “moment” – IKEA invites you to discover how the different moments of life are reflected in the way of living the home, while investigating the effects this could have on time and space. From the single-family studio apartment to multi-generational shared rooms: a story of life at home that comes from a deep understanding of people and their relationship with the domestic space.

In addition, the “Life at Home Stories” come to life, a series of short documentaries about people belonging to different social backgrounds and about their life at home in different countries of the world. This illustration of the relationship between people and the domestic space is the result of a work of “Home visits” carried out over time and which, annually, they are collected and analyzed in the Life at Home Report, a document that for the past 8 years has described the evolution of life at home through the testimonies, stories and points of view of consumers from all over the world. Over 250,000 people have been interviewed over the years in more than 30 countries.

Finally, the “First Home” exhibition. A Milanese railing house comes to life in the courtyard, in which IKEA recreates the homes of three different families, telling the story of those who live there. Here IKEA takes a different approach to accessibility, looking at what people need to own and what can be shared with others. IKEA wants to have a new approach to choices that can be done to make the “first home” more affordable by examining how sharing and sustainable behaviors can be an advantage both for the wallet and for the planet.

What will Ikea Fuorisalone Milano discover

“The Fuorisalone is an unmissable event for any design enthusiast and IKEA has been taking part in this event since 1995. We are thrilled to be back, with this new IKEA Festival format. The goal is to get people to come together around the themes that are inspiring and important to them in everyday life. In particular, themes such as home life, music, food and design. This is what we thought about when we filled the 2,600 square meters of the BASE with creativity and inspiration. ” explains Marcus Engman, Ingka Group’s Chief Creative Officer.

The different days of the IKEA Festival are dedicated to previews of upcoming collections and “Democratic Design Talks” meetings in the company of IKEA of Sweden Design Manager Johan Ejdemo, interior designers Mikael Axelsson and Friso Wiersma, and designers who collaborate with IKEA, such as the British designer Ilse Crawford and Sabine Marcelis, based in Rotterdam.
