We will now try to make some order, and examine what the various reports from the last few months can teach us about the direction Apple is going. As mentioned, the new operating system can hint at a few things that will change: We will start with a Always On Display that will allow you to get a view of the clock and alerts directly on the lock screen even when the screen is off. A change in the design of the defect is also expected, which will probably bring the design of the new devices closer to that of Android devices. In contrast to last year’s model, this time a serious upgrade of the photography system, including the selfie camera, is also expected. For dessert, the batteries will also get an upgrade in their capacity.
Launch in September-October
No official launch date yet. Apple usually introduces the new iPhones between mid-September and mid-October, and there will likely be no significant change in those dates. The latest reports point to September 13, but as stated it is not based on an official invitation or approved publication. The launch of the devices however always takes place about a week after the announcement, and it seems that this will continue to be the case.
Towards raising prices?
The price of the iPhone does not usually change between the generations. But the problems mentioned above can also affect the final price to the consumer, as transportation costs for example have skyrocketed. If the previous model was sold at a basic price of about NIS 3,500, this time it may be necessary to see an increase of 5% -10%. In other words, the basic iPhone 14 may sell for about NIS 3,800 to NIS 4,000. Prices in Israel tend to be higher than those in the US and Europe, and the price increase may be greater for us. It is estimated that the price of pro models will be about $ 100 higher than last year.
Design: Bye bye defect and purple iPhone
The overall shape of the iPhone is not expected to change; What will probably change is the front panel of the device. Apple, according to some reports, will finally abandon the notch at the top of the front screen and instead mount the selfie camera and Face ID in a kind of pinhole in a rice grain design, a much more elegant solution even if not perfect. However, this design is only expected in the iPhone 14 Pro, when in the basic model the device will be satisfied with a selfie hole, as is common in most Android devices today, and there will still be a defect for the face recognition sensor. Another change that is expected concerns the upgrade of the rear photography system – the result is expected to be more thickness, not a belly, but a “tinnitus” that will probably add a little less than two tenths of a millimeter.

Another thing that may change is the addition of a new color – a kind of purple – that is unique in that it is photochromic, that is, changes its shades depending on the lighting angle. Expected pro colors: graphite (black), gold, silver and purple; The regular iPhone colors are expected to be black, white, blue, red and purple but without the hue changes of the pro colors.
Another JP Morgan report points to a titanium structure like the Apple Watch. Its advantages – higher resistance to scratches, blows and corrosion, its disadvantages – a much higher price tag than steel or aluminum and much more limited availability, which may indicate a premium model over the Pro series.
Screen and chips: (slightly) larger screens and a new processor only in Peru
The iPhone screen is not expected to undergo a dramatic change other than support for permanent display, but will get some new features. The first is support for a dynamic refresh rate of between 1 and 120 Hz, compared to a minimum of 10 Hz on the iPhone 13. It should not change much in terms of day-to-day use but will save you some more battery for the end of the day. As for the screens themselves, they are expected to grow slightly, the iPhone 14 Pro will get a 6.12-inch screen compared to the previous 6.06-inch. And the 14 Pro Max will get a 6.69-inch screen compared to the previous 6.68-inch. It is important to note that these are measurements that add the corners to the calculation, i.e. do not take into account rounded corners. From the other exams no significant changes are expected, both the basic model and the pro model will receive in both cases screens of 6.1 and 6.7 inches respectively.

The processors will also be upgraded but only in the Pro models; The A16 will reportedly launch the 14 Pro and Pro Max, with the base models continuing to make use of the current A15 which may get a slight upgrade quickly so that Apple can still claim it is faster than its predecessor. This is a logical change designed to meet two needs: it will allow a clearer distinction between the regular iPhone models and the pro models, and most importantly will save Apple a lot of money in producing new processors. In addition, it will thus be able to save itself in the future the need to equip the two trim levels of the iPhone in the same processor. Apple may also add a more efficient cooling mechanism based on vapor vapor tubes, a technology currently reserved for powerful gaming devices.
Improved zoom and new camera
One of the significant changes seen in the iPhone 14 is in the photo setup. Let’s start with the most significant change, the zoom. The lens is expected to receive an upgrade from 6 elements to 7. In addition, the sensors of the Pro models will boast a resolution of 48 megapixels compared to 12 megapixels today. But note that the images will still be at a resolution of 12 megapixels thanks to a pixel binding mechanism that is created from four generic pixels – one larger. This is a relatively large improvement, and it will allow the iPhone camera to perform much better especially in harsh lighting conditions. The new resolution will allow the recording of 8K videos.

The selfie camera will also be improved with a larger aperture key of F / 1.9, which means that the sensor will receive more light and thus the quality of photography will improve in all lighting conditions. Moreover, an autofocus mechanism is also expected that will make it possible to focus the photographs dynamically. For dessert, Apple will increase the sensor area of the rear camera to 1 / 1.3-inch – that is about 20% more space. This is the same figure you will find in Samsung’s Galaxy S 22 Ultra. There are also reports of a periscope zoom like in Samsung’s or Wavy ultra cameras, but the chances of that are slim, and chances are we’ll see it in the iPhone 15’s camera.
Summary: A new generation with interesting upgrades
The iPhone 14 will hit stores with a lot of interest. But quite a few analysts recommend that those who already own an iPhone 11 or 12 wait a bit. This is because the future iPhone 15 is supposed to have some interesting features the main ones of which are USB-C socket support, a result of the new European legislation and closing the gap with the rest of the market (and the world). The mysterious periscope zoom may also be of interest to all photography enthusiasts. What is certain is that Apple will try to emphasize the value you will receive compared to the price that is expected to rise.
A few months ago Apple had already started lowering expectations when it came to its sales, and still managed to beat its own bad forecasts. Anyway, if you hate the flaw and are looking for a great camera, the iPhone 14 will probably be the first model in the series that could enchant you for many years.
