Street Fighter II is available for free download for a limited time

Starting this weekend and for the next few days, the Japanese game company Capcom is offering for free download Street Fighter II, the company’s classic beating game in its original arcade version released in 1991. Until now it could be purchased as part of the Capcom Aracde Stadium retro game collection, which includes another 32 classic Capcom games, but now the company has decided to separate Street Fighter II from the collection and allow it to be downloaded for free.

The offer is valid for all the different platforms for which the game is available: PC (via Steam), Sony and Microsoft stores for PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and also To the Switch console. Anyone who manages to download the game for free during the promotion period, will be able to continue playing it even after it ends – without any time limit.

For those wondering about the timing of the promotion, Capcom has only recently announced the next game in the series, Street Fighter VI, so it is possible that the company is interested in arousing some interest in the brand even among players who do not play it regularly. Capcom is also expected to soon launch another collection of classic arcade games, Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium, after its predecessor became one of the company’s biggest Switch hits.
