The government plans to block the general election
KT Lal Kanda, a member of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), has accused the government of taking various measures to prevent the general election.
He was speaking to the media at an event in Talatuoya.
He further commented,
“Elections must resolve the current social and political crisis in order to build stability in the country and fix economic problems.
Dissolution of Parliament
Political parties and the public have repeatedly called for the dissolution of parliament and the formation of a new government.
At present, I reject the comments of the Election Commissioner that the election cannot be held. He says he has to obey orders if asked to organize a general election despite his personal preference.
The commissioner’s comments show his partiality in supporting the government’s tactics to stop the election. ”
