BLUES BROTHERS. John Belushi died two years after the release of the film “The Blues Brothers”, in which he starred and which quickly became a cult film.
[Mis à jour le 10 juin 2022 à 20h35] The Blues Brothers, released in 1980, is a cult film both for its quirky humor and for its soundtrack which brings together the greatest blues singers, such as Ray Charles or Aretha Franklin. The two title roles are played by Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi. Unfortunately, the latter died only two years after the release of the film. John Belushi was found dead on March 5, 1982, at the Château Marmont in Los Angeles, as a result of poisoning after consuming drugs.
John Belushi’s death is blamed on Cathy Evelyn Smith, a singer who was his girlfriend. If the death is accidental, the deadly drug mixture was injected and prepared by his companion, who fled after the fact. She eventually surrenders and pleads guilty to manslaughter. Sentenced to three years in prison, she only served half of it. John Belushi’s death was a shock to the world of American comedy. In 1998, The Blues Brothers 2 was released in cinemas, with only Dan Aykroyd in the cast, the character of John Belushi having also died in the plot.
Synopsis – The orphanage in which the Blues brothers were raised must close for lack of funds. They decide to put together a music group to give a concert, the proceeds of which would go to the orphanage.
