The Vectron brand electric locomotive is available purely electrically and as a hybrid model. It has the pulling power of 23 trucks. The trains, which cost up to 4.5 million euros, are manufactured in Munich. By 2023, DB Cargo intends to use 400 electric locomotives in European cargo rail transport, thereby saving up to eight million liters of diesel per year. The advantage: the locomotive is particularly environmentally friendly and can be set up and converted in a modular manner, which means that it can run seamlessly on all European rail networks.
