Youth Congress workers also threw black flags at Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Kozhikode and Vadakara. Four people were taken into police custody. The protest was on the way to Kannur. Despite tight security, the chief minister continued to face protests across the country on Sunday.

A series of protests were staged along the road against the Chief Minister who reached Kozhikode from Thrissur via Malappuram. The ban on black masks and clothing at events has intensified the protests of the Opposition and the BJP.

Meanwhile, the CM’s residence in Kannur was shifted to a guest house due to security concerns. The first decision was to stay at the CM’s house. The decision was changed at the request of the police.

Security ‘fort’ in Kannur too

Police security has been beefed up in connection with the CM’s visit to Kannur on Monday. Traffic was also restricted due to possible protests. Traffic will be restricted from Taliparamba Manna to Pokundu from 9 am to 12 noon.

Vehicles other than ambulances should use Koonam-Poomangalam-Kanjirangad-Manna road. The first function of the Chief Minister will be held at 10.30 am at Taliparamba Kila Campus. The Library Council Library Meeting will be inaugurated online at 12.30 pm. More police personnel have been deployed in Taliparamba and Kannur city.
