Kochi: Volvo, a Swedish company, has become the first automaker in the world to use fossil-free steel in truck manufacturing. Fossil-free steel was used in heavy duty trucks in partnership with the Swedish steel company SSAB.
SSAB Fossil-Free Steel is based on the latest hydrogen-based technology. Fossil-free steel is characterized by low pollution and eco-friendliness. Volvo will begin production of the official truck using this steel by July-September this year.
