After a sluggish campaign and in a context of record abstention of 52.49%, Nupes (26.10%) is slightly ahead of Together! (25.81%), according to the estimates of the results of the first round of the legislative elections. Jean-Michel Blanquer, Eric Zemmour and Florian Philippot were eliminated in the first round on Sunday.
With some five hundred qualifications in the second round, the alliance of left forces is banking on a dynamic and an accelerated mobilization in a week to hope to contradict the projections in seats which grant a majority to Emmanuel Macron.
According to projections by Ipsos-Sopra Steria, the Macronists risk, with 255 to 295 deputies, not benefiting from an absolute majority at the end of the second round, on June 19, the threshold of which is set at 289 seats. Such a scenario would be a first since 1988, when Michel Rocard, Prime Minister of François Mitterrand, was to govern the country with a simple relative majority at his disposal.
