Putin’s crimes and the fear that the world will burn – time.news

Sunday morning, in Trieste, while I was waiting for my turn to vote on the questions posed by the referendum, I chatted with my neighbors in similar anticipation. Opinions vaguely centered on the sweltering heat and crowds of swimmers that made a dip in the sea difficult. But obviously politics played a large part in those otherwise quiet discussions. It struck me how the general condemnation of Putin and the violence of his against civilians and prisoners was never linked to comments on the faces of their authors, as in the old books of criminal psychology, in which the killer seems to have printed in the face and in the his almost racial connotations his crime even before he committed it. However, what prevailed was above all the fear, increasingly widespread, that the fire of this war could spread to our whole world.
