The Ministry of Peace was created in January 2020 by decree of President Ashraf Ghani, who fled the country after the arrival of the Taliban in Kabul. Regional offices of the department operated in seven provinces. After the change of power, the ministry held meetings of the Taliban with elders and community leaders.
