Macron in Romania, “early” heat wave in France and defeat of the Blues

by time news

Did you miss the news this early morning? We’ve put together a recap to help you see things more clearly.

Emmanuel Macron is approaching the Ukrainian borders. The Head of State is expected in Romania on Tuesday to greet the 500 French soldiers who have been deployed on a NATO base since the invasion of Ukraine before a support visit to Moldova and a possible trip to kyiv. Highly anticipated for weeks, his visit to kyiv could soon take place in the company of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi according to media in Berlin and Rome. Information not confirmed by the Elysée, which specifies that “nothing has been acted” at this stage. It would be all the more important since France currently holds the rotating presidency of the European Union until the end of June.

After the heat dome in May, France is about to get hot again, really very hot. Above all, by its geographical extent, the “early” heat wave could go down in history. In the Southeast, it has already been very hot since this weekend. And the phenomenon will spread. The air will thus become unbreathable from this Tuesday in the South-West with a first “hot pulse”. Then, the phenomenon will reach the Center then the North, and therefore Paris from Thursday, with two days expected to be hot on Friday and Saturday. Meteo France does not yet use the term heat wave pending daytime temperatures. Almost the entire southern half, even the center of France, will experience peaks of more than 35°C. The mercury could even rise to 40°C “inside Languedoc”.

The Blues need to go on vacation. Beaten by Croatia on Monday in Saint-Denis (1-0) despite Kylian Mbappé and Karim Benzema, the France team chained a fourth poor performance in a row, abandoning their title in the League of Nations. Doubts will therefore accompany the Blues during their summer break, five months from the World Cup-2022. It will also be necessary for the team of Didier Deschamps to do everything to forget the whistles of the Stade de France on Monday. The objective is to come back stronger and thus mark the history of the next World Cup.
