As you may recall, last week Erdogan decided to change the way the word Turkey is spelled, when he changed from Turkey to Turkiye, this is because the president wanted to avoid the comparison to Turkey, meaning “turkey”.

In launching the Türksat 5B satellite today, Erdogan confirmed that Turkish Airlines would also be rebranded as part of the country’s name change. “There is no more ‘Turkey’, there is ‘Turkey’, we will write ‘Turkey Haba Yular’, not ‘Turkish Airlines’,” President Erdogan declared.
