The New Hope faction, led by Gideon Saar, is already trying to make it harder for the opposition parties ahead of the election, which, in the shadow of the coalition’s fragile situation, seem closer than ever.

In a new bill that they intend to raise today (Wednesday), they want to make it difficult for those who hold the databases in the Likud and Shas – which are considered to be particularly high-quality databases, reports Yehuda Schlesinger in Israel Today.

This is a proposal by MK Michal Shir, who is fighting for the Likud in both the plenum and on social media. It was joined by MKs Zvi Hauser and Benny Begin – all a new hope, which in all recent polls does not pass the blocking percentage.

In the bill, the three seek to expand the Privacy Protection Act in a way that would hurt the factions’ abilities from the opposition to manage the large databases they hold and use them to reach their constituents during the election.

Under Shir’s bill, every five years parties will be forced to delete the information from the database if a person has not re-authorized its use. Also, the person who owns the database will have to contact the people on the list and explain to them what use will be made of the information and ask for permission to use it.

In addition, according to the proposal, the entity holding the information will have to inform the person of the length of time he will hold the information, and will inform him that he has the right to request the deletion of the information, including details of the course of action.
