16 days to the Tour de France, the Premier Tech team is finally getting a refresher in the tough season it is going through. The rider of the Israeli team, Daryl Impi, achieved a prestigious victory today (Wednesday) in the fourth stage of the Swiss column. The South African overtook Michael Matthias and Soren Krag Andersen, who finished in 2nd and 3rd places respectively, at the finish line in Bronen (190 km from Grenchee).

For the 37-year-old Empy this is his first victory in the race after three years and he finally delivers the receipts in his second season at PremierTech. The Israeli team (only six wins this season) desperately needs points in order to rise above the red line at the end of the season and avoid relegation to the second tier in the cycling world, the Pro Continental tier.

At the top of the overall rankings there is no change left, with the British Steven Williams leading by six seconds over the Danish Andreas Kron. Former columnist Girant Thomas is ranked third 7 seconds from the leader. The column includes more difficult climbs and will end this coming Sunday in Vaduz.

Impi is expected to be on the PremierTech squad for the Tour de France, which opens on July 1 in Denmark and ends on July 24 on the Champs Elysees in Paris. The team will announce the final roster next week, with Omar Goldstein as the Israeli representative on the list.
