Muscat: A boy died after falling into a sewage pit in Oman. The incident took place on Monday in the Suwaiq district of northern Al Batina governorate.

The Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority said rescue teams from the northern Al Batina governorate arrived at the scene soon after receiving a report that a child had fallen into a sewer in a house in Suwaiq. The baby was rescued by rescue workers but was pronounced dead at the scene, Gulf News reported.

No information was available on how the child fell into the pit or how long he lay there. Authorities urged parents to take care of their children and cover the sewers in the house.
