The Indian rupee depreciated by 18 paise against the US dollar in early trade on Wednesday.
Currency sources said:
The slump in the domestic stock market and the persistent outflow of foreign investment have been major obstacles to the rupee’s appreciation in the foreign exchange markets.
The rupee had opened at 77.99 against the dollar in early trade on Wednesday. The rupee had lost 18 paise to close at an all-time low of 78.22, the sources said.
Crude oil barrel 119 dollars
Brent crude traded lower at $ 119.87 a barrel in early trade on Wednesday, according to market data.
