While party spokespersons insisted that the AIADMK should have a single leader, party coordinator O. Panneerselvam and co-coordinator Edappadi K. Palanisamy also held separate consultations with his supporters on Wednesday.
AIADMK general body meeting is scheduled for June 23. A meeting of AIADMK district secretaries was held at the party office in Rayapettai on Tuesday to discuss the issues to be resolved at the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, most of the district secretaries insisted that the AIADMK should have a single leader. More than 80 per cent of them are Edappadi K. Palanisamy also urged the leadership to accept responsibility. Supporters of O. Panneerselvam Sila objected.
After the meeting, O. Panneelselvam and Edappadi Palanisamy held separate consultations with supporters at their homes on Greenways Road.
The consultation continued into Wednesday, the 2nd day. Edappadi Palanisamy was at his residence in consultation with his supporters including former ministers Dindigul Srinivasan, Thangamani, SB Velumani and AB Udayakumar. Edappadi Palanisamy has been adamant that the post of General Secretary should be achieved in the coming General Assembly anyway. She has been doing vegetables accordingly.
O. Panniaselvam was in consultation with his supporters including Vaithilingam, Natham Viswanathan and Manoj Pandian at his residence. While most of the district secretaries supported Edappadi Palanisamy at the meeting, O. Panneelselvam consulted with supporters on how to prevent it from being included in the general body. He is adamant that in the current context of supremacy, dual leadership must continue, and if it decides to have a single leadership, it must remain under its leadership.
Edappadi K. The OPS has also been blaming the AIADMK for all the defeats led by Palanisamy.
Meanwhile, supporters of Edappadi Palanisamy, including Dindigul Srinivasan, AB Udayakuma and Thangamani, met at Ova Panniyoselwa’s house on Wednesday to hold peace talks. But O. Bunnieselvam did not like anything.
Later, Dindigul Srinivasan came out and said that my support was for Edappadi Palanisamy.
Poster War: Posters in support of O. Panneerselvam were pasted in areas including Chennai, Ramanathapuram and Theni following the issue of single leadership at the District Secretary’s meeting. Posters were pasted near O. Panneelselvam’s house on Greenways Road in Chennai. It was torn down by Edappadi Palanisamy supporters. Sasikala Page OPS ?: Edappadi Palanisamy has been left as the first candidate and leader of the opposition in all respects. O. Panneerselvam is adamant that there is no chance of giving up anymore. Perhaps, after all, if Edappadi Palanisamy is given the post of General Secretary, Sasikala’s side will be O.P. The question has arisen among the AIADMK as to whether Panneer Selvam Saivara and the AIADMK will split in two as before.
