Jean Pierre Petit was raising funds to support the care of his sick granddaughter. The family decided to donate the organs

He had decided to put his passion for cycling at the service of his niece Eveline, sick. So, to raise money for kidney transplant surgery, Jean-Pierre Petita 53-year-old Canadian grandfather, had organized a great little pedal business: an 838 mile bike trip (1,349 kilometers) departed on 4 June from Winnipeghis hometown in the Canadian region Manitoba, a Black Hills, in South Dakota, in the United States, where there is a famous spring water fountain considered a symbol of life. The project ended in tragedy: the man died from his injuries after being hit by a truck driver on the Interstate 29, less than 30 miles from Brookings, South Dakota.

Jean Pierre Petit carried a sign with the inscription We do everything possible and was run over while pedaling along the white line at the edge of the road. Taken to the hospital in Sioux Falls, died shortly after. By the time of the accident he had already collected over 18 thousand dollars. The company of fundraising was told through the Facebook page Cicle4Eveline, where the tragic accident was also announced: The Petit family wishes to inform all those who have followed the Cycle4Eveline journey that our wonderful JP – husband, father, grandfather, hero – has given up due to of wounds. JP has always been focused on the health and safety of others. He leaves behind an incredible legacy, which includes his recent support for his son and granddaughter during their kidney donation experience, and then his fundraising plan to support Eveline’s kidney transplant and other children who they need care. And now, with this legacy, he is donating his organs to him to help save more lives. JP’s wife, Carmelle, and their three children Marquis, Julien, Janique, and their spouses, and many grandchildren are all deeply proud of JP and are so grateful for his presence in their lives. God has given us the miracle of a man who is leaving a legacy of love, selflessness and heroism. If you want to honor JP right now, give Cycle4Eveline a gift or leave JP’s memorial gift at Goodbear. Both will continue to support JP’s ultimate goal.
