Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today advised the government to prepare an appropriate program for food security and submit a report within the next two weeks.

The Prime Minister said this at a meeting of the Food Security Committee held at the Prime Minister’s Office today (17).

The Prime Minister’s Office said the meeting was attended by officials from the ruling and opposition parties, including ministers.

The Prime Minister has advised to set up committees with the Divisional Secretaries and take all necessary steps to ensure food security.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, a committee headed by Suren Pattagoda is preparing a food security plan.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has stated that his policy is that no one should go hungry due to the food crisis.

Although the food crisis could directly affect 4 million to 5 million Sri Lankans in the future, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has said action will be taken to control it.

The Prime Minister has directed the authorities to make it a priority to provide food, gas and fuel to the fishing community.
