She is the 2nd daughter of the world-renowned Tamil writer Dr. Tamilkuyil Kaliyaperumal, who is currently working as the Principal Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences of the same University.

Why is it necessary to start a Tamil department at the University of Florida?
This is a golden moment when the work of establishing Tamil language seats in many international universities around the world, including Harvard in the United States and Toronto in Canada, has been completed. 8.5 crore Tamils around the world are doing their best to take their mother tongue Tamil and its cultural significance to the world stage.
Tamil is safe in Tamil Nadu and in the diaspora. Immigrants are making mother tongue learning a penance for their children. The next step is to create international learning facilities in Tamil-majority areas that will facilitate the study and study of Tamil across the four platforms of language, history, art and culture.
It is through such efforts that the language strength and historical facts of the Tamil community will reach the world community. It is imperative that the state government, which rules in the native Tamil Nadu, joins hands with the motherland for such important efforts to spread Tamil in all possible ways.

Under this department ‘Tamil – Institute for Expatriate Tamil Studies’ (Tamil and Tamilar Diaspora Studies) Attempts have been made to establish a separate department under the name of. This is called ‘Institute’ (Institute) In the language of university administration. For this, my husband and I made an initial donation of US $ 90,000 and received the approval of the university. Various divisions are to be launched under this department.
Students can apply from any country in the world including India, Tamil Nadu, Sri Lanka, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, Switzerland, Norway. Scholarships and grants provide educational opportunities in the form of postgraduate, research, small research, and rapid learning.
More than one professor and associate professor will be appointed to facilitate the study of study students and to teach Tamil arts including music and dance which are a part of the culture. We look forward to encouraging more visiting professors. Seats may be limited to literary studies and their publication. However, you can install as many seats as you want under one department and dedicate them to a specific field of study.
Funding required to run the ‘Tamil – Institute for Expatriate Tamil Studies’ …?
Tamil Language – Tamil Literature – Tamil Arts, Expatriate Tamil Studies, Vallalar Studies, Valluvar Studies (1.Tamil language and literature, 2. Tamil arts3. Tamil diaspora, 4.Vallalar studies, 5. Valluvar studies) Studies and learning are prioritized in 4 categories. Especially under this department the Tamil seat, Valluvar seat and Vallalar seat are set up. Since it is a government university it does not need a large resource fund to set up a seat like at Harvard.
A donation of US $ 60 lakh (6 million) is sufficient to run the sector for the next 5 years. The company will then start deducting interest from the trust’s resource fund. The Tamil Nadu government is with the mother and hopes to approach this initiative.

How was the trip to Tamil Nadu?
The first trip was a success. Dr. VRS Sampath, Minister of Industries, Tamil Language, Tamil Culture and Archeology, Thangam Southern Government, presented the official letter of approval issued by the University of Florida. I have met many important personalities such as Dr. Arul Nadarajan, Director, Department of Tamil Development, Prof. Chandrasekhar, Director, Central Institute of Classical Tamil Studies, and Dr. K. Vijayaragavan, Director, Directorate of Etymological Dictionary.
