Sri Lanka has been facing an economic crisis for a long time. Even basic necessities like food and drink are out of reach and its prices are skyrocketing. Inflation is setting new records day by day. Sri Lanka’s currency has largely devalued. Thus there is a severe fuel shortage.
Due to the lack of money to buy coal, power cuts are in effect in Sri Lanka for 15 hours every day. Petrol and diesel prices have risen to an all-time high. Diesel and petrol prices have risen sharply and are not available. There is a dilemma of waiting in long queues to get petrol and diesel for vehicles.
In this dire situation, the credit limit to Sri Lanka has been fixed and India continues to take steps to supply petrol and diesel. Each time Sri Lanka has to hand over the money for the petrol delivery already made. However, the Sri Lankan government has not been able to repay the loan. As a result, there is a severe shortage of petrol and diesel in Sri Lanka again.
