New refusal to comply in Paris: three police officers injured, the driver still on the run

by time news

The driver of the vehicle – who refused a police check and is suspected of having run into officials, one of whom fired on Friday evening in Paris – is still on the run. “An investigation was opened this Friday into the counts of attempted murder of a person holding public authority and aggravated refusal to comply,” a judicial source told us this Saturday morning.

Around 9 p.m., rue Burq in Paris (18th arrondissement), a crew from the territorial contact brigade spotted a drug transaction in a car. As the customer leaves, the police, in civilian clothes and wearing armbands, decide to check the two occupants of the vehicle. According to a police source, the driver took off with a bang and hit the leg of one of the officials who had nevertheless tried to move away. The driver then takes rue Durantin where another policeman from the crew orders him to stop, while drawing his weapon.

According to the same source, the driver then drives in the direction of the latter, who fires once again. The fugitive continues his progression towards rue Tholozé and manages to faint in nature. We did not know this Saturday morning where the bullet fired by the policeman was lodged.

An echo of the Pont-Neuf drama, which left two dead

Three officers were reportedly slightly injured during the operation. They were transported to Lariboisière hospital (Xe) and were to be heard during the night from Friday to Saturday. They also agreed, along with their fourth colleague, to be screened for alcohol and narcotics. The result is negative. Forensic experts were dispatched to collect as many clues as possible. Officials from the general inspectorate of the national police went there as “observers”, according to concordant sources. The investigation was entrusted to the 2nd judicial police district.

This new intervention for a refusal to comply occurred the same day of the reconstitution, at Pont-Neuf, of another case but which had resulted in the death of two men in the car. They had been shot dead during a check on April 24 by a policeman with an assault rifle. The 24-year-old peacekeeper has been indicted since April 27 for “voluntary homicide” concerning the driver, “willful violence by a person holding public authority resulting in death without intention to give it” s in the case of the front passenger, and placed under judicial control.

A few hours later, another case in the Yvelines

A few hours after the case this Friday evening in Paris, two 17-year-old teenagers were arrested in Trappes (Yvelines) for concealment of vehicle theft and a refusal to comply which ended in an accident. Around 11:30 p.m., the police were informed that a young man from the Méquignon home in Élancourt had just stolen a Renault Trafic. Shortly after 4 a.m., a crew spotted three men in the stolen car speeding by. They order them to stop. A chase ensues. The vehicle of the fugitives ended up hitting a central reservation. The teenagers then manage to flee on foot. Two of them were arrested and taken into custody.

In addition, near Montpellier (Hérault), after refusing to comply overnight from Thursday to Friday, a vehicle went the wrong way on a national road and hit a car head-on. The terrible collision left two dead and three injured, two of them life-threatening.
