Bangalore: Fans eagerly waiting at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in the rain were disappointed. The India-South Africa Fifth T20 (IND vs SA 5th T20I), dubbed the ‘Bengaluru Final’, ended with just 3.3 overs to spare. With the two teams sharing the trophy 2-2, Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar was named the man of the series. Veteran Bhuvneshwar extended his name to the Indian squad before the T20 World Cup.

The match, which was scheduled to start at 7 pm, started at 7.50 pm due to rain. The match was reduced to 19 overs for both the teams. Ishant Kishan started the fifth T20I match against South Africa with Keshav Maharaj hitting two sixes in a row in the first over. In the second over, NGD bowled Ishan (15 off 7 balls) in a slow ball. Ruthuraj Gaekwad (10 off 12 balls) was also dismissed by NGD in the fourth over. India were 28-2 in 3.3 overs when it rained again. Later the rain clouds in Chinnaswamy did not help the match.
South African skipper Keshav Maharaj won the toss and elected to bowl There were three changes to Proteas’ playing XI. Regular captain Themba Bawuma did not play today. Other outfielders are Tabriz Shamsi and Marco Yanson. There was no change in the Indian squad when Tristan Stubbs, Reeza Hendricks and Kagiso Rabada reached the South African playing XI.
