Autotox announces immediate availability of the ZooZ 2 safety device, designed to prevent bicycle and scooter accidents

Autotalks from Kfar Netter, a global pioneer of V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) communication solutions, announces the immediate availability of ZooZ 2, the second generation of its V2X device for micro-mobility, designed to prevent Accidents of electric and non-electric bicycles and scooters.

Four bicycle and riding equipment companies have pledged to launch trials testing the new device and two automakers are set to begin validation tests of the new safety device. The ability of Ototox’s new device to protect two-wheeled car riders has been successfully demonstrated in the tests of the European SECUR project, which develops V2X test protocols for the safety organization. The new solution runs on V2X’s two communication technologies – DSRC and C-V2X.

ZooZ 2 is a compact V2X device mounted on the handlebars of a bicycle or scooter. It provides the rider with an alert when a vehicle equipped with a V2X endangers it. It also notifies vehicles equipped with V2X and smart infrastructure (such as smart traffic lights) of the rider’s existence, in order to provide drivers with an alert that they may endanger the rider. The device is plug & play and comes with Commsignia software. Commsignia software provides mutual compatibility with all standard V2X equipment worldwide.

The new device is an upgrade of the first generation ZooZ platform, based on feedback that Autotox has received from the market. Upgrades include improvements to the human-machine interface, rider alerts and installation flexibility. The solution will also allow road users, including cars, cyclists, scooters, motorcycles and pedestrians, to communicate with each other via V2X and create a safety communication network. The device allows manufacturers in the field of micro-mobility as well as manufacturers of light vehicles and commercial vehicles to immediately begin testing, validating and designing solutions to one of the most dangerous problems in the field of micro-mobility – accidents at intersections.

UK statistics show that nearly two-thirds of riders killed or seriously injured in road accidents were involved in collisions at or near intersections, particularly Junctions T. The study found that squares are particularly dangerous intersections for cyclists.

Autotox unveiled the ZooZ 2 at the Velo-City conference, the world summit for cycling, held last week in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Autotox helps reduce road collisions and improve mobility through chipsets licensed for use in the automotive industry. The Autotox V2X chip complements the information coming from other sensors, especially in situations where the driver does not have a line of sight (non-line-of-sight) with the object, in severe weather or in poor lighting conditions. The technology significantly improves overall road safety and effectively coordinates between regular vehicles, autonomous cars, motorcycles and pedestrians. Autotox has raised more than $ 150 million since its inception. The company employs about 100 people in Israel, Japan, Korea, Germany and France, and is currently recruiting additional workers.
