by time news

June 20 is a very special date in the history of Indian cricket. India have not won any ICC titles or big wins on this day. It was on this day that three legendary players of Indian cricket wore the Test team shirt for the first time.

Former captain and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, former captain and current India coach Rahul Dravid and former captain Virat Kohli made their Test debut for India on June 20.

Ganguly and Dravid played their first Test for India in the famous Test against England at Lord’s in 1996. It was a great debut for both of them. Ganguly (131) made his debut in the Mecca century of cricket. Dada took two wickets in the match. Dravid also put in a good performance. But he missed the century he deserved by just five runs that day.

Virat Kohli was recalled to the Test team the same year after his stellar performance in the 2011 World Cup. Kohli made his Test debut on June 20 against the West Indies at Sabina Park in Jamaica. However, he managed to score only four runs off 15 balls. Today, 11 years later, Kohli is one of India’s legendary players.
