Now it’s official: Daniel Sundgren signed today (Monday) with Maccabi Haifa. The club announced the addition of the player and in fact this is Barak Bachar’s first foreign acquisition for the 2022/23 season, when Yinon Eliyahu from Maccabi Petah Tikva also joined the same position.

The defender said after the signing: “I am very happy and happy to sign with Maccabi Haifa. It feels like the right step for me and my family. The people I met in Israel are professionals and welcome. I am already waiting to play in this amazing stadium and in front of this wonderful crowd. “I played for two years in front of a crazy crowd and it seems like it’s a step up. Green is rising.”

The sporting director of the club, Gal AlbermanHe said: “We are happy to congratulate Daniel on joining the club. Daniel will add experience, quality and passion to the team and we are sure he will soon be integrated into the green. We wish Daniel many happy moments together with the green crowd and of course good luck!”.

The 31-year-old Swedish Sundgren came to Aris Thessaloniki in 2019 after leaving AIK, when he also once represented the team in May 2021 and sat out more games on the bench. The player ended his contract and this paved the way for Carmel. As you may recall, this is the son of Gary Sundgren, a former defender for the Swedish national team who played in Euro 2000.

Sundgren was even named player of the month in the Greek league in October following the good ability he displayed at the start of the season. In four games played, he conceded three goals, scored himself once and also added a brace.

What will Sundgren add to Maccabi Haifa’s style?
