Recovery of fuels buried during the war in Mullaitivu!

While clearing a private land in the Udayar forest in Mullaitivu on May 31, some species of barrels were found buried under the ground.

The incident was brought to the notice of the Puthukkudiyiruppu Police Court today (20) on the orders of the Mullaitivu District Magistrate.

The excavation operation was carried out in the presence of Mullaitivu District Magistrate Judge R. Saravanaraja in the presence of police officers, army officers and Grama Niladharis.

Seven barrels buried in the ground have been recovered and identified as kerosene as the fuels have been identified. Thus 715 liters of kerosene was recovered from 7 barrels.

The officer in charge of the Pudukudiyiruppu police station said that steps have been taken to present all the recovered items in the Mullaitivu District Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (21).
