However, the logo could not be found on the recent Gran Turismo 7, which once again appears to have moved away from simulation and esports, which may have had an impact on the federation’s newly announced decision.
According to the organization’s press release,FIA Motorsport Games 2022Will play with Assetto Corsa Competizione, a racing car-like game that will have a future famous license. Developed by Kunos Simulazioni at the Vallelunga circuit and published by 505 Games, the game has become the go-to game for competitive analogies over the past few years, even supplanting classics like iRacing or rFactor, despite (or thankfully) focusing only on the GT category. The competitive possibilities of Italian simulation games, combined with its proven structure or its bet on the PC as the main platform, certainly help to organize such events.
This year’s competition will include 17 motorsport categories, including ACC esport. Cars in the game will be limited to GT3 (the main category represented on Assetto), the same selection as IRL GT, GT Sprint and Endurance. The FIA highlighted the possibility of using a “digital version of the same car” and the versatility of the Kunos software platform. “This is one of the most popular esports games in the industry,” said Niroshan Pereira, the FIA’s head of esports.
For the FIA event, the Italian studio will offer a new version of theCircuit Paul Ricard, which is the racecourse in France, where the class final will be held on October 29. No real cash prize pools have been mentioned so far, but it’s worth mentioning that previous generations of the Gran Turismo World Series didn’t have any, which recently kicked off its 2022 edition, now without FIA support, from PS4 GT Sport switched to GT7 on PS5.
