In this context, the Department of Motor Vehicles is tightening inspections. The rigorous test, called ‘Operation Race’, will begin on Wednesday.
Modification, speeding and registration of vehicles engaged in illegal activities and revocation of the driver’s license will result in a fine. Penalties will be levied at the address of the vehicle owners who do not stop during the inspection.
Transport Minister Antony Raju had directed the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMO) to increase the number of youth deaths due to road accidents.
