MK Jida Rinawi Zoabi announced that she does not intend to run in the next Knesset, neither in the Meretz primaries nor in an Arab party, she said in an interview with the radio from here.

Last month, Zoabi announced that she was not negotiating with the coalition leaders about her retirement. “There is no negotiation between me and the coalition for resignation. I will not keep this coalition at all costs. This coalition does not understand that there are people who seek respect for the sector they represent,” Zoabi said at the time.

Earlier today, MK Mazen Ghanaim from the Prime Minister announced that he has no plans to run for the Knesset in the upcoming elections. His decision comes amid his desire to run for mayor of Sakhnin in next year’s local elections.

“I will not run in the next election. This is a decision I made a long time ago, and I do not regret not resigning before,” Ghanaim said. “I return to the strengthened Sakhnin municipality. It was a first-class professional experience. There is mutual respect between me and the members of Ra’am, and our path will part well.”

As you may recall, in recent weeks there has been heavy pressure on Ghanaians to resign from the Knesset, after he voted against the government’s position in extending the Judea and Samaria regulations. The party called on him to focus on running for mayor of Sakhnin, after in the last election RAAM received 9,600 votes in the city thanks to the inclusion of Ghanaians on the list.
