The new Apple charger from Twelve South is a small and inexpensive three-in-one alternative

by time news

The newest accessory from Twelve South is the HiRise3, a $99.99 three-in-one charger designed to keep your iPhone, Apple Watch, and airplane powered. It has very similar features to BelSkin Boost ↑ Charge Pro 3-in-1 MagSafe with Wireless Charger with a very compact design, low starting price and a few other caveats.

Leave the warnings first. Although HiRise3 only works with MagSafe compatible iPhones, it is not an MFi certified MagSafe charger. The iPhone 12 and 13 are still magnetically attached to them, and they still charge — but only at 7.5W, compared to the full 15W MagSafe charging capacity. This doesn’t mean the iPhone will actually charge half of its charge, but it’s just that it’s not as fast as it could be.

The charger is designed to work with iPhone 12 and 13 models.

Second caveat: The HiRise3 box does not come with the required 20W USB-C power adapter. So even if it’s $99.99 cheaper than the $139.95 Belkin charger, you’ll have to calculate the charging unit price if you don’t already have a brick. A Brick of Rage, for example, raising the total cost of the Twelve South Charger to $120 would set you back an additional $18.99.

If you have a lot of devices to charge in a cluttered nightstand, it’s undeniable that the HiRise3 should do a great job of being efficient in a place that can make all the difference. Twelve new Southern Chargers are available today.
