Islamabad: Former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is likely to be arrested if he returns to the country, Law Minister Assam Nasir Tarar has said.
There are various corruption and murder cases against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Pakistan. Under the circumstances, Nawaz Sharif was allowed to go to the UK for medical treatment for four weeks in 2019. Nawaz Sharif, however, remained in London without returning.
Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif’s brother, Shebaz Sharif, recently took over as prime minister. Following this, it was reported that Nawaz Sharif was back in Pakistan. In this context, Assam Nasir Tarar, Minister of Law, Pakistan, said:
Nawaz Sharif Bagh, to seek bail to relocate to court. Otherwise if he comes to Pakistan, he will be arrested as per the court order. Last, in 2020, the Islamabad High Court issued a warrant for Nawaz Sharif. So, Nawaz Sharif Bagh., Should come and surrender in court. After that, he can get bail as per the court order. Thus he said.
Meanwhile, a petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court on behalf of Nawaz Sharif. In it, it is stated that he will return to Pakistan in four weeks, if recommended by the doctors. In this context, the military has warned that none of his party members, including Nawaz Sharif, should oppose the return of former President Pervez Musharraf to his homeland in Dubai.
