The 2 day EU summit kicks off today in Brussels, Belgium. It is reported that Ukraine will be recognized as a candidate by all 27 member states.
Russia has been attacking Ukraine for refusing to comply with NATO’s Internet call. The European Union, which has been providing financial and arms assistance to Ukraine, is in the process of recruiting it. Because only a member state can provide direct military assistance.
But joining the EU is not an easy task. It will take many years for the procedures to be completed and finalized. Ukraine submitted its application on February 28.
At the same time, the European Union has decided to grant candidate status first, in order to give the country confidence. It is expected that Moldova will be granted candidate status today.
