Jeddah: Saudi Arabia and Turkey have agreed to strengthen cooperation in various fields. Saudi Arabia has been invited to invest in Turkey. The two countries made the announcement during a visit to Turkey by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The Crown Prince arrived in Turkey on Wednesday at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He arrived in Turkey after visiting Egypt and Jordan and received a warm welcome.

The two countries agreed to enhance cooperation in the political, economic, military, security and cultural spheres. Exchanged views on the most important regional and international developments in the public interest. Discussions focused on ways to expand and diversify bilateral trade, facilitate trade between the two countries, overcome the difficulties encountered in this regard, intensify communication between the two countries’ public-private partnerships, and translate them into partnerships across different sectors.

It was agreed to activate the Saudi-Turkish Coordinating Council and to enhance the level of cooperation and coordination on issues of common interest. The two sides expressed interest in cooperating and working in the energy sectors, including upgrades and clean technologies for petroleum, refining, petrochemicals, energy efficiency, electricity, renewable energy, hydrocarbon resources, low carbon fuels and hydrogen. Turkey welcomes the launch of ‘Green Saudi Arabia’ and ‘Green Middle East’ projects in the areas of environment and climate change. He also expressed support for Saudi efforts on climate change projects.

It was decided to increase the productive and investment partnership in the areas of artificial intelligence, digital technologies and smart cities and to encourage the private sector to work in these areas. Turkey has asked investment funds operating in the Saudi entrepreneurship sector to invest in and establish partnerships with emerging companies in Turkey. It was also agreed to strengthen the relationship between the Turkish Standards Institution and the Saudi Standards and Metrology Organization.

The visits of the scientists were made on the basis of a cooperation agreement signed between the Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Council and the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology. He emphasized the need to strengthen and expand cooperation between the authorities of the two countries for small and medium enterprises. The agreements signed between the two countries in the areas of defense co-operation will be activated. Achieve security and stability in the region and strengthen and expand them. It was agreed to enhance judicial cooperation and exchange experiences between experts in the judicial field.

Cooperation will also be strengthened in the areas of health and tourism. The possibility of cooperation in the field of health investment will be explored. Cooperation between the National Civil Aviation Authorities will be enhanced. It was also decided to strengthen cooperation, coordination and exchange of views on important issues in the local and international arenas.

The Crown Prince thanked the President of Turkey for his hospitality and love. The Turkish president praised the Saudi government for organizing the Hajj amid Kovid challenges. He was pleased with the increase in the number of pilgrims this year.
