As our colleagues from L’Équipe revealed on Wednesday June 22, the player could, from July 1 of this year, see his commitment with PSG extend for an additional season and be linked to Paris until June. 2027. The conditional is, for the time being, still relevant since, like antibiotics, this extension is not automatic.
Two Options
The three-season contract, initialed by the Brazilian in the spring of 2021, certainly allowed the club and the player to extend their collaboration from June 2022 to June 2025. But in the file there were also two options. He, who has undertaken to accept a decreasing salary, was thus offered the possibility of extending the duration of his contract in two stages. The first through an option exercised in July 2021 which extended the contract signed until 2026. A principle identical to that which will allow the Brazilian in a few days to extend, if he wishes, again its partnership with Paris until June 2027.
In this case, the player is, in fact, the only one who can decide, the club having no power over this option.
