Kuwait City: The Manpower Authority has tightened workplace inspections in Kuwait following violations of the lunch break law. The Manpower Authority said it had taken action against several companies.
Officials from the Occupational Safety Division of the Manpower Authority have activated the field inspection. Authorities said inspections at various construction sites revealed numerous violations. Kuwait has implemented the noon break law from the 1st of this month. Work in direct sunlight in open areas from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. is prohibited.

Inspection to see if the lunch rule is being followed; 100 violations found
Kuwait City: Authorities in Kuwait have identified 100 violations related to the lunch break law. 155 workplaces were inspected to see if the law was being complied with. So far, nine complaints have been received through the WhatsApp number provided for reporting violations.
Of the establishments inspected, 51 were found to be complying with the noon rest law. Last week, officials visited 12 construction sites in the Al Masayil area of Mubarak’s Al Kabeer Governorate. Local media reported at the time that more than 50 workers had been arrested for violating the law. In hot weather in the country, direct sunlight in open spaces from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. is prohibited.
Strict restrictions on noon work in Saudi Arabia
The Public Authority for Manpower has said it is committed to protecting workers’ rights. Lunch is allowed as per the law of the country 535/2015. In addition to warning, action will be taken if violations are found, the company’s files will be closed and a fine of 100 dinars per worker will be imposed. If the violation is repeated, the penalty will be doubled.
